Top-class American choral music

THIS is your chance to experience the beauty of choral music.

Operafest Children's Choir, the leading children's choir group in the country, will perform as part of a five-day programme (from tomorrow to Saturday) by the renowned ensemble of singers called American Voices.

To be held at the Securities Commission, Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur at 7pm, it will feature baritone/conductor Ira Spaulding and American Voices founder/artistic director John Ferguson.

Organised by the US Embassy and sponsored by Renaissance Hotel, the tour is part of the American Voices' visit to this region which also includes Kyrgyzstan , Vietnam and Taiwan.

Based in Amsterdam, Holland, American Voices is a non-profit organisation devoted to the better understanding of American music and culture.

Since its establishment in 1993, it has organised jazz festivals and gala concerts with conservatories, orchestras and opera houses worldwide. It has also embarked on artiste-in-residence programmes and music score donations in Myanmar, Vietnam, Oman, El Salvador, Bolivia, Greece and Japan.

With a wide repertoire ranging from Broadway to jazz and contemporary music to opera, it performs more than 100 concerts every year and also conducts masterclasses and workshops all over the world.
